Current Events Correlating with Biblical End Times

October 2, 2020

The year 2020, without a doubt, left many of us surprised. It may seem as if it is one catastrophe after another. From a global pandemic to racial riots and wildfires, many of us see these events as unexpected and alarming, but many Christians and biblical theologists see this as biblical prophecies unfolding.

In the new testament, there are many references to the end of the world often called “The Day of the Lord.” The bible tells that while the world faces sin and chaos, the Lord will return to earth, and followers of Jesus will ascend with him leaving unbelievers on earth to face tribulation. Although it clearly states that the day of the rapture is unknown, there are many warning signs left to help Christians infer. While some may believe the end times are sooner than others, it is becoming obvious that many prophecies are lining up.

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

Matthew 24:7 NKJV

The common translation of this verse claims that nations will conflict with other nations, but many find the original Greek translation of this verse using the word “ethnos.” The closest translation of the word “ethnos” is “a group of people united by kinship, culture, or traditions.” This is often tied to the recent racial division. The Black Lives Matter movement and the fight against police brutality have caused a harsh divide in the differing races leading to violence and hatred throughout the United States.

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads

Revelations 13:16 NKJV

Scripture also speaks about the mark of the devil. It claims that in the end times, everyone will be forced to have this mark. It predicts that the mark will be placed either in one’s right hand or forehead. Many theologists believe this prophecy sounds strangely similar to a microchip Jeff Bezos is developing. The chip is meant to be implanted in one’s right hand to use for keys and money exchange. There are other reports of microchips including when USA Today broadcasted, “a small Wisconsin company announced it would begin implanting microchips into employees hands.”

Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 NKJV

This verse is referring to the prophesied antichrist. The Bible reveals that in the end times, a person will come claiming they are Christ but will speak blasphemously toward Jesus Christ. That prophesied antichrist will begin a battle against Christianity and those who believe in the true Messiah. As stated in Daniel 11:40-41, the antichrist will plan to bring destruction to the Christian holy land of Israel. These characteristics lead many Christians to point fingers, trying to detect who is fulfilling the prophecy. A number of Christians have begun to suspect Israeli rabbi Yaakov Zisholtz after he claimed he was holding meetings with the messiah. Others have even claimed current U.S. president, Donald Trump, to be the antichrist.

Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, And those who dwell in it are desolate. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, And few men are left.

Isaiah 24:6 NKJV

This chapter speaks specifically about God’s devastation with the world full of sin. It speaks about earthly punishment and natural disasters following. After the churches closed in California due to COVID-19, biblical theologists noticed the rise in natural disasters, such as wildfires and earthquakes, throughout the state and tied it to Isaiah 24 and its talk about punishment of those disobeying God’s covenant.

But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

Matthew 24:36 NKJV

This verse reassures many Christians that those predicting the rapture are following a false narrative, for they do not know when it will happen because it clearly states in scripture that no man will know. Later in verse 42, it compares the end times to the robbery of a house saying that nobody will expect when it is happening, but you must prepare yourself. Day by day, these prophecies begin to unravel, but there is no need to fear. Simply learn and prepare.

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
